Whilst it has been a solid start, there’s still plenty of work for Leeds to do if they want to maintain their Premier League status at the first time of asking, and the January transfer window will play a major part in that.
Having missed out on a number of top targets in the summer, the Whites would be wise to make up for lost time and add the finishing touches to Farke’s squad when the winter window opens.
Who arrives, if any, will be the big question.
Reports have namedropped the likes of Jens Petter Hauge in the last week, and there’s no doubt that the Bodo/Glimt winger would be an interesting addition.
Revealing the news, transfer reporter Graeme Bailey told Leeds United News that those at Elland Road have set their sights on signing the 20-year-old.
If any reinforcements are to arrive, then it’s likely Farke’s attack receives a much-needed boost.
The German made his desire for attacking talent no secret in the summer, but watched on as Leeds failed to get his top targets over the line.
Although Leeds will not be expected to break their transfer record in January, they should look to add some decisive arrivals in pursuit of safety, before splashing the cash in the summer.

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Leeds are eyeing a summer move to sign Gustavo Hamer from Sheffield United, with a January deal unlikely as things stand.
Having been interested in the Sheffield United star in the summer, Leeds could finally get their man one year on.
If the Blades fail to earn promotion to the top flight, then keeping hold of a player as talented as Hamer would prove to be even tougher, especially if Leeds look to take advantage of the fact that he shares an agent with Wilfried Gnonto.
Praised as “perfect” by Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder for how he handled transfer speculation in the past, it will be interesting to see just how much Hamer pushes for an exit if his side continue to struggle in the Championship and Leeds come calling again.
The 28-year-old has been a mainstay of Wilder’s midfield, starting nearly every second tier game for them so far, and he was equally imperative last season.
Hamer bagged an incredible 18 goal contributions in 44 Championship appearances in 24/25, playing a key role as the Blades only just missed out on Premier League promotion, courtesy of a play-off final loss to Sunderland at Wembley.

Spurs signed the attacking midfielder from RB Leipzig for £52m in the summer transfer window in the hope that he would add creativity and goals to the team, in the absence of James Maddison.
Simons provided 21 goals and 21 assists in all competitions during his two full seasons with Leipzig in Germany, in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 campaigns, per Sofascore, which shows that he is capable of delivering plenty of quality in the final third.
However, the Dutchman, per Sofascore, walked off the pitch against Everton with no shots, no key passes, no dribbles completed, and no ‘big chances’ created against the Toffees.

Kolo Muani taking four unsuccessful touches from 15 total touches shows that his close control and technical ability was not good enough, to go along with his struggles out of possession from a physical perspective.
Richarlison came off the bench to replace Kolo Muani and, per Sofascore, only took one unsuccessful touch from 15 touches and won two duels, whilst he created Sarr’s goal with his header back across the goal.
With three goals and one assist to his name in the Premier League, the Brazil international may be favoured by the Spurs head coach when their next Premier League match against Chelsea rolls around, after their EFL Cup action during the week.

وتابع: “أداء الأهلي تحسّن كثيرًا في الفترة الأخيرة، هناك لاعبون لم يكونوا في أفضل حالاتهم، وأصبحوا الآن في مستوى متميز للغاية، وهذا يُحسب للجهاز الفني، وبالطبع ستظل هناك أخطاء، لكن الفريق يسير في الطريق الصحيح”.

وأضاف: “وللعلم، حتى يكون الجمهور على بيّنة، ما سأقوله ليس خبرًا حصريًا ولا سبقًا إعلاميًا، بل هو مجرد توضيح للواقع، الأهلي بالفعل يجري مفاوضات في الوقت الحالي مع لاعبين اثنين، وهناك مفاوضات أيضًا لضم مهاجم جديد، وقد تكون هناك احتمالية لبدء مفاوضات مع ظهير أيسر كذلك، هذا أمر طبيعي جدًا في عالم كرة القدم، ولا يستدعي الضجة التي نراها أحيانًا”.

The Karnataka government has held Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) accountable for the stampede that occurred outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4, resulting in 11 deaths and injuries to more than 50 people.The findings were outlined in the government’s status report, which was made public on Thursday, two days after the Karnataka High Court rejected the government’s request to keep it confidential and ordered its release.In the status report, a copy of which has been accessed by ESPNcricinfo, the government said: “The RCB Management, in association with its event management partner, DNA Networks Private Limited, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), unilaterally decided to hold the victory celebration without prior consultation with the police and without obtaining the necessary permissions or license for such celebration.”As per the report, KSCA CEO Subhendu Ghosh submitted an intimation on behalf of DNA Entertainment to the Cubbon Park police on June 3 around 6.30pm about RCB’s intention to organise a victory parade should they win the IPL final that was scheduled the same evening in Ahmedabad.Related

They argued that the tribunal had overstepped its jurisdiction.The government contended that managing such a large crowd at just 12 hours’ notice was an impossible task and questioned the officer’s [Vikash & team] handling of the situation. “What was the officer doing? Did he take any action? Instead of issuing prohibitory orders under the Police Act, they proceeded with arrangements for the celebration,” the government stated.RCB continues to await the report of the CID investigation that is in its final stages. Members of RCB’s top brass as well as those from DNA have all submitted their testimonies over the past month. A set date for the judgment is yet to be made public.

As you can see in the table above, only four teams have missed more ‘big chances’ than the West Yorkshire outfit in the Premier League this term, which shows that they have been wasteful in the final third.
The Whites have only scored nine goals in nine matches in the top-flight in the 2025/25 campaign, but the number of ‘big chances’ that they have missed suggests that they should be well into double figures by now.
Part of that is down to the quality, or lack thereof, within the squad in the attacking areas of the pitch. Dominic Calvert-Lewin was brought in to be their main number nine, and they need much more from him.
Why Leeds need more from Dominic Calvert-Lewin
The £100k-per-week centre-forward was signed on a free transfer in the summer transfer window after he was released by Everton at the end of last season.
Calvert-Lewin’s only goal for the club in all competitions so far, though, came in the 3-1 win over bottom-of-the-league Wolverhampton Wanderers last month, as he brilliantly guided a header into the back of the net from Jayden Bogle’s cross.
The 11-cap England international was a risky signing for the Whites, despite being a vastly experienced player at Premier League level, because of his form in front of goal for Everton in recent seasons.
Since a 16-goal haul in the 2020/21 campaign, when supporters were not allowed in stadiums for the most part, the English striker has failed to hit double figures for goals in a top-flight season.

However, the outlet adds that it may be difficult for the club to convince the Sky Blues to part ways with the striker, as they are currently top of the Championship and gunning for promotion to the Premier League.
In January, pundit Carlton Palmer claimed that it could take a fee of around £20m to tempt Coventry to sell him, but it remains to be seen whether or not that would be the case next January.
Why Leeds should sign Haji Wright
Farke should push for Leeds to press ahead with a deal for the USMNT centre-forward when the January transfer window opens for business at the start of next year, because he could be an upgrade on Calvert-Lewin.
As aforementioned, the current Whites number nine has not done enough in front of goal in the Premier League to be deemed a reliable marksman for the German head coach, which may be why Wright has emerged as a possible target.
The Coventry star is unproven in the Premier League, having never played in the division, but his form in the Championship suggests that he has the potential to make the step up and excel at Elland Road.
Wright has racked up eight goals in ten starts in the second tier so far this season for Frank Lampard’s side, per Sofascore, after a return of 12 goals in 21 starts in the division in the 2024/25 campaign.

As you can see in the table above, the American centre-forward has scored eight times as many goals as Calvert-Lewin at league level, with a far superior conversion rate.
At his current performance level, Calvert-Lewin would miss 40 ‘big chances’ to hit the eight-goal mark that Wright has reached this season, with just six ‘big chances’ missed for Coventry, albeit at a lower level.
The Sky Blues striker, who was described as a “big, big winner” by former USA international Alexi Lalas, has shown that he can finish chances at an impressive rate, outperforming his xG in the Championship in the 2024/25 and 2025/26 campaigns.
Meanwhile, Calvert-Lewin is currently underperforming against his xG for the tenth Premier League season running, which suggests that Leeds cannot expect his fortunes to change in front of goal.

Palmeiras e Santos se enfrentam na Arena Barueri neste domingo (8), a partir das 16h (horário de Brasília), com transmissão da Rede Globo e do Premiere.
أكد الدنماركي ييس توروب، المدير الفني لـ فريق الكرة بالنادي الأهلي، على سعادته بأداء لاعبي القلعة الحمراء خلال مباراة اليوم أمام الزمالك، موضحًا رأيه في مواجهة الصعوبات والتحديات مع النادي بالفترة المقبلة.
وفاز الأهلي على الزمالك، بنتيجة 2-0، في نهائي كأس السوبر المصري، ليحصد اللقب للمرة الـ16 في تاريخ القلعة الحمراء والخامسة على التوالي.
وقال توروب في تصريحات خلال المؤتمر الصحفي عقب المباراة: “قلت للاعبين إنني جئت إلى هنا من أجل تحقيق هدف واحد وهو الفوز، كنا نعلم أن المباراة ستكون صعبة، ومع ذلك استحقينا الفوز نظرًا للأداء الذي قدمناه طوال التسعين دقيقة”.
وأكمل: “يجب ألا نقلل من حجم الثقة التي يمنحنا إياها هذا الانتصار، كانت مباراة جميلة جدًا بعد أربعة أسابيع من قدومي، وأحقق هذا اللقب”.
وزاد: “أشكر اللاعبين على استغلال كل يوم لتنفيذ الأفكار التي أردت تطبيقها في الملعب، وبذلوا مجهودًا كبيرًا للتحسن”.
وواصل: “الفوز أمام الزمالك وعلى غريم مثل هذا أمرًا مهمًا جدًا لنا، جئت إلى الأهلي لاستكمال مسيرة تحقيق البطولات، وطموحي أن أبني أساسًا قويًا”.

وأتم: “فرصة ممتازة أنني فزت بأول ألقابي، لكن الطريق ما زال طويلًا، أحاول تطوير أفكاري لتتماشى مع طريقة اللعب المصرية، ونحقق مزيدًا من التقدم في طريقة اللعب”.
وبسؤاله أن إخفاقًا وحيدًا قد يتسبب في رحيله مهما حقق من ألقاب، وهل هو جاهز لهذا التحدي؟، أجاب: “جئت لـ الأهلي من أجل مساعدته على تحقيق الألقاب، وأعلم أن مصر فيها 120 مليون مدرب يعتقدون أنهم يفهمون الكرة أكثر مني”.
وأردف: “لكنني أحاول دائمًا الحصول على أكبر قدر من الدعم من جماهيرنا، أنا أحتاجه والنادي كذلك، وكلما كنا معًا، ستكون لدينا فرصة أكبر لتحقيق العديد من الألقاب معًا”.
وبسؤاله كيف ستستغل فترة التوقف المقبلة؟، أوضح: “الفوز يمنحنا ثقة، ونعلم أننا أمام فترة توقف دولية، وهناك لاعبون سينضمون للمنتخب، أمامنا فرصة لبناء العمل الذي نرغب فيه خلال فترة التوقف، والمكسب سيزيدنا ثقة”.
وعن إصابة تريزيجيه، أجاب: “تحدثت مع الطبيب للاطلاع على حالة تريزيجيه، وبناءً على ذلك سنقرر ما الذي سنفعله”.
